Testimony filming and production are central to Dovecast Media. Inspired by ministries that document changed lives with care and excellence, the team believes Malaysia also needs life testimonies rooted in its local Christian communities.
In 2008, founder James Leong undertook two years of media-missions and television-production formation in Hong Kong, later continuing documentary-production training. Back in Malaysia, the team expanded its production and training work, helping churches build practical skill from finding people and shaping stories through filming, lighting, and editing.
01 · Vision
Testimony filming and production are among Dovecast Media’s core ministries. We were deeply inspired by organizations that have recorded countless stories of transformed lives with a high professional standard. This also impressed upon us that Malaysia needs life testimonies belonging to its local Christian communities.
02 · Professional formation
In the ministry’s early years, after completing several works, we saw that our craft still needed to grow. In 2008, founder James Leong went to Hong Kong for two years of in-depth placement with Gospel organizations and Christian television, gaining broadcast-level production workflow, professional discipline, and creative perspective.
After returning to Malaysia, he gradually grew the team and continued to focus on testimony production. Dovecast also saw churches wanting to record believers’ life journeys as a strong Gospel medium. The team therefore began helping churches form dedicated media teams, with practical training from finding people and telling stories through filming, lighting, and editing.
To continue pursuing excellence, James later returned to Hong Kong for a master-level documentary-production camp led by leading mentors in the local documentary field. Participants entered communities to film local people, life, and trades; internationally awarded mentors expanded his creative horizon and informed Dovecast’s later work with mature storytelling and professional techniques.
03 · Ministry reach
Alongside the need for high-quality short films in Gospel ministries such as Happiness Group, the team has produced more than 50 testimony and promotional films for churches, theological schools, and organizations including DUMC. Cross-border collaboration has included Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United States, Canada, and Greece.
In recent years, as Chinese churches in Malaysia have actively pursued Happiness Group outreach, demand for quality video work has grown. Dovecast has assisted DUMC with a series of life testimonies and continues to create tailored ministry-promotion and anniversary films for churches, theological schools, and Gospel organizations.
